The Executive Director of Save the Children says New Zealand is well behind it’s responsibilities to the Millennium Development Goal. The MDG was adopted by 189 nations and signed by 147 heads of state, and the requirement is that 0.7% of gross national income is spent on aid by 2015.
John Bowis says NZ is way off the target, NZ’s fair share is $25 million. So far we have only committed $0.9 million. This week is the Save the Children appeal week, John gives an update on current projects undertaken by Save the Children and reflects on his work as Executive Director.
