The Imagine Cup is a global student technology competition in which university students are challenged to use tech innovation to solve the world’s toughest social problems. Each year, there are regional Imagine Cup competitions held in 100 countries. The winner of the New Zealand competition for this year is Team Think, a group of three Lincoln University students who have designed a piece of software that may change the way children in the third world are taught to read and write. They’ve ended up in Cairo for the worldwide finals, competing against top teams from around the world. But can they win over the judges?

Alex Hedley travelled there and his findings along with memories from Returned Servicemen, photos and letters are contained within Fernleaf Cairo.
